Ayurveda means the 'Science of Life.' It is a comprehensive system of healing from India that dates back to over 5000 years. Ayurveda is a holistic and preventative approach to wellbeing, aiming to eliminate disease by identifying and treating its root cause.
The five elements are intricately connected to Ayurveda's approach. According to this ancient healing wisdom, all matter in existence is made up of the five elements: earth, water, fire, air, and ether (space). These elements form the three fundamental energies, or doshas, in our body known as Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, which are present in varying degrees within each individual.
Optimal health is present when the three doshas are in their balanced state. Ayurveda recognizes that each person is unique, providing the knowledge and practical tools to restore balance and maintain physical, mental, and spiritual well-being with customized remedies.
I discovered Ayurveda through a personal experience. Several years ago, I developed a rash on my hand that was diagnosed as eczema. I was given a topical cream as treatment, but was told it might never go away! Perplexed by the news, I researched other healing modalities and discovered an Ayurvedic Practitioner.
I was fascinated by my first office visit. I felt cared for, heard, informed, and above all, I understood the 'cause' of my dis-ease: The fire quality or 'Pitta' element in my body had risen. The excess heat in my system had manifested as the skin condition I was experiencing. Managing the Pitta dosha alleviated my condition; the eczema is long gone, and my journey with Ayurveda began that day.
Shortly after that event, I enrolled in The California College of Ayurveda in Northern California, from which I obtained my Ayurvedic Health Counseling Certification, my Ayurvedic Body Therapies Certification, and academic studies in Clinical Ayurveda.
I am grateful to now have the ability to share this beautiful wisdom with the community, helping the seekers of well-being realize their divinity and their true healing potential.
The name I chose for my practice is Roshana Healing. Roshana means 'shining light'. May I have the honor to shine light on your healing journey.
